What’s the process of getting a crown?

Dr. Ilyayev installs your high-quality and beautiful crown in just two office visits. During your first visit, Dr. Ilyayev uses a local anesthetic to numb your tooth and the surrounding tissues, then shaves off some of your enamel to make room for the crown.

Once he’s prepared your tooth, he takes an impression of it using a dental putty. He sends this impression off to a lab that custom-makes your crown to fit perfectly over your prepared tooth and blend in seamlessly with the rest of your smile. You’re sent home from your first visit with a temporary crown that will keep your prepared tooth safe while you wait for your final restoration to come back from the lab.

Once your permanent crown is ready, you come back for a second visit. Dr. Ilyayev removes your temporary crown, cleans your mouth and prepared tooth, and checks that the size, fit, and color of your permanent crown are comfortable and up to your standards. If you’re satisfied, he seals the permanent crown in place with a dental sealant.

You’ll leave the office able to chew, speak, and smile as if your natural tooth had just grown back on its own!
